THE SMALL THINGS DONT MATTER!
It is super important to know the basics of booking a PROFESSIONAL DJ when planning your celebration! It can make or break the event!
I think it is part of my job as an Entertainer to help provide USEFUL QUESTIONS to ask and consider when booking a DJ & MC for any event wether its a Wedding, Prom, or Nightclub.
My biggest goal when talking to all clients is to understand exactly what their VISION is and making everything CUSTOM to YOU.
From Lighting to Music and Special Moments the only goal is to make sure your once in a lifetime celebration is nothing less than PERFECTION!

Its not as simple as just the music… Its about their personality and the energy they bring to your celebration. Here are some things to look for to understand them:
- Schedule a Zoom or in Person meeting with them. The first impression you get from them is important.
- Search online, ask friends about them, stalk their social platforms and something super important find sample mixes of them. This is a great way to get to know them instantly!
-
First ask what is important to you! It can be anything from their Style to their Individual Day of Process.
Don’t Forget The Important Ones:
- Are you insured? Will I receive a Contract?
- What time do you arrive to setup?
- Do you DJ full time or is it just a hobby?
- Do you bring backup gear if something breaks?
-
Your DJ will be more involved and not just playing music. There many things a DJ can do to impact your event, here are some noteworthy ones we notice:
- Making announcements throughout your event. So they need to be experienced on a mic.
- Making sure that everything is running smoothly at the event. this way nothing unexpected happensthrought the celebration!
- Being the master of ceremonies for your guests. So they need to have a good personality.
-
It is up to each person! If having music and dancing at your event are important to you, then a DJ is a very important vendor to have. Here is Why:
- They know how to MC for the flow of the day and special key moments throughout the event.
- He is the point between you and your guests for moments!
DJing an event is never just about the music it is about the entire experience everyone has throughout the entire celebration!
-
This is totally up to you, but I like to say “Why not both!?” It’s becoming way more common to see a Band and a DJ/MC at your celebration in different ways for the event! Some combos we see are:
- (My Personal Favorite) A DJ performing with a percussionist throughout the entire event.
- The band is the main music with a DJ playing during any of the band’s breaks throughout the celebration.
- Your Band will play the main reception and a DJ will play during an afterparty that guests are invited to.
